Preeminent Miami Beach Day School to Add 29,000-sf Building for Specialty Classrooms, Library, Gym and Performing Arts Venue

Miller Construction Company celebrates the groundbreaking of a new three-story, 29,000-square-foot building featuring a mezzanine level and rooftop area for the Lehrman Community Day School. The school hired Miller as the general contractor for the $28-million addition, which will create a new, modern facility that students will be able to utilize for many years to come. Construction is expected to be completed in Q2 of 2026.

“We are very pleased to partner with Miller Construction on our expansion which will provide students with a state-of-the-art learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning,” said Jodi Bruce, Head of School, at Lehrman Community Day School. “This expansion signifies a significant milestone in Lehrman’s history and ensures that we can continue to provide an exceptional education for generations of Jewish children in Miami Beach.”

The ground level is designed for a spacious cafetorium and a stage for student performances. The second floor will be dedicated to learning, featuring a well-stocked library and a collection of modern specialty classrooms. The third level will be home to a state-of-the-art gymnasium, providing ample space for physical education and extracurricular activities. The building will also feature a 2,000-square-foot mezzanine level and 1,000-square-foot rooftop area. The building will be attached to the existing school at 727 77th Street in Miami Beach. Construction will incorporate a mix of high-quality materials, including cast-in-place panels, concrete masonry units, and a robust structural system featuring tie beams and columns.

“We are thrilled to have the support of our community,” said Rachel Schilt, Director of Development at Lehrman. “The strong outpouring of philanthropic efforts has made it possible to move forward with this capital project – building the future of Lehrman.” The school has thus far raised more than $23 million.

“Miller Construction Company is honored to partner with Lehrman Community Day School on this important project,” said Brian Sudduth, President and CEO at Miller Construction. “We are committed to building a high-quality, functional, and inspiring learning environment that will serve the community.” The project teams include Corwil Architects, Inc., Thomas E.
